SSM: What have you been working on the past few months?
JADE: We're doing a movie, that started like 3 months ago...was it three?
CARLY: Yeah, three.
JESSICA: We did our Winter Party Tour that started in November and ended in Janaury/February, and we've been trying to work in the studio.
ERIN: The movie takes up a lot of time though. It's really cool!
JESSICA: that's it so far, but it's actually a lot!
SSM: What's the name of the movie?
JADE: It's called Screams of Anguish and is actually based on a story a fan of ours wrote
CARLY: She sent us a copy of the story and we were like 'Wow, this would make a cool movie!'
JESSICA: We brought the idea to our new maanger and he thought it was cool, so we started with the project. There's a lot of cool people in it with us, as well
JADE: We're really excited with it
It's very edge of your seat
SSM: Wow, the fan must be thrilled
ERIN: She was so excited, we called her up to ask her permission to use it for a movie and she was freaking out, it was cute
SSM: Are you guys going to be making a CD soon?
ALL: YESS!
CARLY: We've been working in the studio off and on with different producers and writers and we have some great stuff coming along. We're really excited about it.
JESSICA: It's taking a little longer than expected because we switched managers and went through a lawsuit with our old manager, and we went on tour, so studio time was put on hold for a little while.
JADE: Now we're going back on tour...(laughs)
JESSICA: Now we're touring again, so who knows when we'll actually get lots of solid studio time in, but we're working on a new cd, right now as we speak. We have like one or two songs finished so far.
SSM: When does the tour start?
JESSICA: Well, it was supposed to start the beginning of this month, but things got postponed, so now it's supposed to start tomorrow, but that's not going to happen (laughs)
CARLY: It wil start this month though, in the middle or end and go through September, I think
SSM: Is it just going to be a west coast thing, or are you going all over?
ERIN: Oh gosh, everywhere (all laugh)
JADE: We're going all over, I think we even have a couple shows in British Columbia tentaviley scheduled
CARLY: it's crazy!
JADE: My mom just got all of the tour dates from Larry (our manager) so she'll be sending out an e-mail with those soon
ERIN: It's a lot of summer fairs and festival type things
CARLY: It's differne than our usual tours, we have a couple country acts as opening acts
SSM: Do any of you girls write songs?
ERIN: A little bit. We have a few things we're writing altogether, and we're writing a lot based on our own expereinces. We've been through a lot this past year or two, and we're putting those feelings into our music. Hopefully some of our songs make it to the new album!
JESSICA: I wrote a nice song for the girls, because they've been my rocks for the past 3 or 4 years, and they mean so much to me. The song is called "I Come Running" and it's just basically thanking them for being there.
OTHERS: Awww! (all laugh)
JADE: And I'm working on a song with Jess, because my uncle is over in Iraq and Jessica's father is, too, so that's been really hard for us and our families, so we're writing a song about that.
SSM: I think that's really great that you all are writing songs based on your lives, I think it will touch a lot of people's hearts
JESSICA: That's our goal, with this second album, the first album was great, but it was very bubblegum and new to all of us, so we didn't have a lot of say.
ERIN: Things are very different now, with everything. It's four of us, with a new manager, new looks, new outlooks on life and we know more of the business now.
CARLY: More level-headed.
JESSICA: Definitely.
JADE: We want to reach out and if we cna just touch one person with our experience, that'll make us the happiest.
SSM: What are your hobbies?
JADE: hobbies....Boys! (all laugh)
CARLY: Jade has raging hormones lately, it's weird, she's not usually like that!
ERIN: We walk down the street or if we're in a restaurant or something, she's like "Oo, look at him" "Look at that one!" (laughs)
JESSICA: No, her best line is "break me off a piece of that!" (all laugh)
JADE: What can I say? I like boys! I'm supposed to, I'm 16-years-old now!
KIM( Jade’s Mom) : I have a say in this, right? (laughs)
JESSICA: I think we all like boys lately. There are a couple boyfriends in the picture...but apart from that, we like going to the movies, shopping, of course!
CARLY: LOVE shopping
ERIN: There's a lot to do here in California, so we have lots of hobbies. I like to go swimming, in the pool or to the beach and I've been playing basketball with some friends whenever I have time off once in a while.
CARLY: Yeah, I play some basketball, too, but I like roller blading, that's a lot of fun! And um...water skiing, but I'm not too good!
JADE: Jess and I are trying to learn to surf. (laughs)
JESSICA: Yeah, the keyword is TRYING (all laugh) A guy friend of ours is out here in Cali for a few months and he just learned to surf for a show he's working on, so we were trying to learn too, and it didn't go so well. He's got it down-
JADE: Hes got it down, but not TOO well
JESSICA: He's better than us, he can actually stand up on the stinkin' board! (all laugh)
JADE: But we like surfing, it's fun.
ERIN: bottom line is, our friend rocks, jade and jess stink (laughs)
SSM: What would you do if you weren't performing?
CARLY: I'd be going to college in the Fall rather than taking a year off, and I'd be studying to become a midwife, it's something that has always fascinated me.
I love babys and a friend of ours just had a new baby, she's so cute! So I've become pretty fascinated with that whole world...the baby world.
ERIN: I'm not sure...probably just going to school right now, and looking at different colleges. I'd probably have a summer job at like the beach or creemee stand or something.
As far as career-wise goes, I don't really know. Maybe a dance instructor out here at a studio in the city.
JADE: If I wasn't in No Secrets...that's scary to think about! Hmm...come back to me!
JESSICA: I'd be studying to be a doctor, like a pediatrician or something, I love little kids and working with them in that area would be kinda cool.
SSM: What's the one thing you girls can't live without?
JESSICA: person or thing?
SSM: thing
CARLY: Well he's not a thing, but my little brother Darien, he lights up my world. As for a thing...I guess...my cell phone. Definitely.
JESSICA: Carly's is so social, she's always on the phone. I can't live without a lot! (laughs) My music, my cd's, my family and friends, and these girls. And my lip gloss!!
ERIN: All of my clothes, I just love my clothes so much! (all laugh) And all of my make-up, I love that too.
JADE: My mom, the girls, my other friends...my Hula outfit from when I was with my Hula group in Hawaii...umm...what else...my make-up...my light pink skirt, it's so cute!
I got it at Dolce and Gabanna the other day and its one of those short skirts thats like, kinda frilly, cheerleader-ish (laughs) It's hard to describe, but it's really cute, I love it and they'r ereally popular lately, everyone has one. I'm wearing it right now, actually!
JESSICA: I don't think I could live without my cell, either. It's like a lifeline, (laughs)
ERIN: Neccesity
SSM: What CD is in your CD player right now?
JADE: I'm rocking the Maroon 5 cd right now. I love Maroon 5, I've only known about them for like, a few months, since "This Love" came out, but they're awesome! I got their CD last weekend and I've been listenng to it 24-7, it's an awesome cd, you should DEFINITELY check it out, the whole thing is amazing.
JESSICA: She's got a crush on Adam.
JADE: (laughs) Yeah, I got a lil thing for the lead singer, Adam, he's wicked hot
CARLY: I think we can all agree to that one! (all laugh)
JADE: If we met him, I'd melt...seriously.
ERIN: I have Britney's cd in my cd player right now, "In the Zone." It's a great cd, very sexy and very mature from the other three Britney albums, I like it a lot.
JESSICA: This is kinda embarrassing and I feel conceited saying this, but...the Disney Mania 2 cd is in my cd player.
JESSICA: (all laugh) But let me explain, it has nothing to do with our song being on there, 'cause I just skip right past that song every time (laughs)
But...I'm really digging "Second Star to the Right" by Jesse...he's a hottie, and that song is just too cute. He sings it so well.
JADE: Her face is all red, aww! (all laugh)
CARLY: I mave a mix in my cd player. It has like, Madonna, Sheryl Crow, Evanessance, Hilary Duff, Britney...a bunch of people on it.
ERIN: I love "My Immortal" by Evanessance
JADE: Maroon 5...oh gosh...yeah...(laughs)
SSM: Is it weird to have girls come up to you and ask for your autograph and a picture with you?
ERIN: Yeah, it's weird sometimes, but it's kind of flattering, too.
We get a lot of young fans who come up to us and ask for pictures and things, it's so cute.
We love all of our fans we meet at shows and things, but we love meeting and talking to the little fans.
JESSICA: It's cool to know we actually HAVE fans and when they ask for an autograph of a picture, we're glad to stop and talk with them for a few minutes, because they've made us who we are, and they've brought us this far today, so why not stop and talk to them or sign something for them you know?
SSM: You have no idea how much it means to us (fans) that you girls take time to sign things and take pictures
JADE: I don't know how many fans know how much it means to US that you all come out to support us, and even right now, being so patient as we're getting back on track with recording and touring and things. You guys are alls so special to us!
SSM: If you could have any super power, what power would you have and why?
ERIN: To set back time, that'd be really neat.
JADE: To fly! Like Peter Pan
JESSICA: *singing* the second star to the right....shines in the night for you.." (all laugh)
CARLY: Come back to me in a sec, I'll have something.
JESSICA: I wanna be like the genie in that old show "I Dream of Jeanie" and just like wiggle my nose or nod my head and something appears, that would be too cool. Just snap my fingers!
CARLY: Okay, I got one. I guess to fly.
JADE: Copy cat!
SSM: Have you ever been recognized at the mall or movies, etc.?
ALL: Oh, yes, all the time
JADE: It's weird to like, walk into the mall and then have someone come up to you and say, "Are you Jade from No Secrets" because you almost say no, becuase you don't think of yourself as Jade from No Secrets, you think of yourself as Jade, like, YOU, but then you realize, 'Wait a minute, I am Jade, and I am in No Secrets, and this person knows me from No Secrets," (laughs)But like the autograph thing, it is pretty flattering, and it makes the fans happy to meet us, whether it's at a show or at the beach.
JESSICA: We meet fans in the weirdest places and in some of the worse-case scenarios, you will not believe! (all agree)
ERIN: We were on an escalater in the mall once, and some girls were going down when we were going up and they started freaking out and running up their escalater to talk to us. It was crazy. They got in trouble with the store clerk, and then the clerk looked at us and she was like, "Aren't you No Secrets?" (laughs) It was funny.
CARLY: We were all in the store once, like a few months ago and Jade was getting a new bra because she needed a few new ones because she outgrew her other ones.
(laughs) And we were in the dressing room area, waiting for Jade to try her bra on. A couple girls and guys came in through and were like, "Oh my God, it's No Secrets!"
So we talked to them for a few minutes and Jade didn't know they were out there, so she came out with the bra on and she was like "Guys, can you get me another size,
this one doesn't fit either, it's still too small!" (All laugh) She was SO embarrassed!
JADE: It was really embarrassing, I hope that enver happens again.
ERIN: It was really funny
JADE: But the fans were really sweet about it after, they were like "we're so sorry!!" They felt so bad
I gave them a hug and was like "it's fine, don't worry about it!
SSM: what a good sport
JADE: You gotta be in that situation, ya know?
SSM: Do you girls ever pull pranks on each other? If so what was your best prank?
ERIN: We love pulling pranks! Our guy friend who's out here in California for the summer is really sneaky at pulling pranks, so we learned our best from him.
JESSICA: We were in the mall a couple weeks ago, and Carly loves jake Gyllenhall. She went to the bathroom and when she came back out we were like "oh my gosh Carly, Jake Gylanhall just walked past us"She was freaking out, and started running in all the stores looking for him and asking if anyone had seen him. After about a half hour of her doing that, we were like "Car, we were kidding" She was like "I knew that" Yeah right! We had her totally fooled
JADE: We all went to Carly's senior prom a couple weeks ago and then we spent the night at her house after. Jessica fell asleep and we put Tobasco sauce on her mouth, she woke up and started screaming, it was great (laughs)
CARLY: Then one time we were all at the beach and Erin and Jade and I were in the water. Erin's bikini tied in the back and on the sides and we untied it without her knowing, adn it just fell off and started floating away, we had to catch it before it got out too far
JADE: On our last tour, Jessica and I mixed water witgh Jell-O and skittles and poured it on the stage. Carly and Erin came on stage and slipped and fell, in front of everyone
ERIN: We got Jade back though
SSM: What did you do to Jade?
CARLY: Yeah, the other night we were eating Banan splits, but instead of putting a banana in, we put a hot dog in, and then put the ice cream and everything on top, she took a bite and spit it out, she was so disgusted.
ERIN: The look on her face was priceless!
JADE: It was NASTY
SSM: eww who thought of that?
CARLY: Erin
JESSICA: We are the biggest dorks, seriously.
CARLY: We can be pretty daring sometimes too
ERIN: We went skinny dipping the last night of the RRR tour
SSM: now THAT would be a bad time for fans to show up
JESSICA: It was a bad time for Aaron and the Jump5 guys to show up!
ERIN: They stole our clothes but gave them back later
SSM: are you serious?
ERIN: Yeah, but they didn't see anything, we were all in the pool and they were VERY sneaky about it
We had towels nearby, so we got in those, went to the bus, changed, and then tracked those naughty boys down!
CARLY: We stole their underwear, (all laugh)
SSM: If you could join the cast of any T.V. show which one would you join?
JADE: "SUMMERLAND!" Woo-Hoo, gotta support our baby J-MAC! (all laugh)
JESSICA: We all agree there, we'd love to be on "Summerland."
SSM: How did you girls react the first time you saw yourselves in a magazine, on T.V. or heard yourselves on the radio?
CARLY: We were freaking out. The first time we ever heard "Kids in America" on the radio was on a station here in L.A. We were all in the car with Angel's mom Cindy, on our way to a meeting and it came on the radio. We started screaming and we were so excited. We turned it up SO loud and drove through the city with it blasting, we were singing along at the top of our lungs. We were late to the meeting, but oh well, they forgave us when we told them our song was on the radio.
JADE: It was really weird, like, "Wow, that's US. THAT'S US ON THE RADIO"
JESSICA: We're used to it by now, so it's not AS werid, but still kinda funny. The first time we ever saw our video on TV was on the Nick Video Picks way back in 2001.
We were in rehearsals one Sunday night and there was a TV in one of the other dance studios where we were. One of the moms was in that room watching and she came running in the room, screaming that our video was Number one, so we ran to see it. It was "Kids In America" and we were so excited, all of the moms started crying, and a couple of us got a little teary-eyed. It's a great memory.
ERIN: Magazines are really werid, because you kind of judge yourself, like "Why did I say that in that interview?" or "Look at my mouth, it loosk funny in that picture, my hair looks weird there," You notice every little flaw.
JESSICA: It's kinda weird, but we're getting used to it. Slowly.
SSM: Recently my ex and I were going to get back together, but never happened and one day I heard, I'll Remember You, and it perfectly states everything that is really going through my head, so my question is what do think of when you sing songs that people can relate to?
JESSICA: Well, last year a close friend of ours was killed in a car accident on her way home from the Junior prom. She was killed by a drunk driver and it was a hard thing for us to go through. We still miss her a lot, and she would have graduated this year with Carly, if she was still here. So on our Winter Party Tour, we all thought of her whenever we performed that song, and after her death we dedicated that song to her every night of the tour.
JADE: I know, for me personally, I also just think about my friends nad family and the other girls, especialy, because the song is really about love, loss, friendship, and relationships. One girl came up to us after a cocnert on our last tour and she was crying-
ERIN: In tears, it was so sad
JADE: And she was like, "Thank you so much for singing "I'll Remember You" tonight because I just lost my dad and it was so hard for me, but your song brings comfort, even through the hurt." That was a really great feeling, to see what we touched someone that deeply with a simple song.
CARLY: It's a great feeling and very rewarding. That's one of my favorite things about this industry.
SSM: What is your favorite song on your album? Why?
ERIN: On our debut album, my favorite song is probably "Hot." It's a really cute song. I don't have a favorite for the new album yet.
JADE: "I'll Remember You" is my favorite from the first album, but I like "Once Upon a Dream" a lot, too. That video was so fun to do. For the new album, we've been working on a song that currently has no title, and I love that a lot, I hope it gets put on the new CD.
JESSICA: I like "Hot" a lot, as well, and "Skin Deep" has a really good, wholesome message to young girls. As for the new album that's in the works, my favorite right now is the song I wrote for the girls.
CARLY: I like Jessie's song on the new album, and I really like "Hot" and "I'll Remember You" from the last album. "On the Floor" is good, too, that's a big party song.
SSM: Thank you girls SO much for the interview!
No secrets: you're welcome! thank YOU for doing this with us!
