Official Nate Sallie Site

Nate Sallie is taking the Christian music scene by storm. With his CD Inside Out and extensive touring, Nate Sallie has developed quite a following.

SSM: I saw you perform with Jaci Velasquez two years back in August in MA, How did you like it?
Nate: Jaci is an amazing vocalist and talent. It was an honor to open for her, and be a part of the spring tour. The audiences were energetic each night, and the response afterwards was humbling.

SSM: What is your favorite song to perform live?
Nate: It's hard to choose one, but the one that comes to mind is "Whatever It Takes." The reason being because of the connection with everyone there during the breakdown chorus, and everyone is singing or yelling the words. It's a nice moment.

SSM: What is one thing you couldn’t live without?
Nate: If we are talking Spiritually it would obviously have to be my relationship with God. If you are asking about something I own that I couldn't get on without...it would have to be my piano. I have had it since I was five, and still write my songs on it.

SSM: You write your own songs right? If so, where do you get the words?
Nate: Yes, I do write my own songs, and most of the words come from real life experiences. The songs write themselves. All I have to do is think about what the experience was, why it happened, who was involved, and the outcome etc...and put it down...Much prayer goes into the beginning of a recording also. God is the creator of creativity so I ask him to pour out his creativity on me each and everytime.

SSM: What's been your favorite city/state to tour so far?
Nate: Kansas City, MO. I played a date with Jaci at Arrowhead stadium, where the Chiefs play, and it was amazing. The stage was set up in the end zone on the playing field, and it was under the stadium lights. Thousands of people stood on the field, and jumped up and down with me. Very cool.

SSM: What's next for you?
Nate: I played over 100 dates last year so at the moment I am recuperating from the road, and back in the studio preparing for record number two. I just finished a deal with Baldwin pianos, and did a world wide interview with them, and there magazine, and will be endorsed by them for all future touring. I'm excited about that. I also just joined Holt International, and am excited to be a part of there child adoption agency.

SSM: Did you like Utah?(July 24th '03)
Nate: It's been a while. I do remember the mountains being breathtaking.

SSM: How'd you get started?
Nate: I started playing the piano when I was five, and never quit, or I should say, my parents never let me quit. I'm glad they made me stick with it. I was classically trained through highschool and college, and then sent in a demo tape of some songs I had written to Reunion records, and they loved the music, called me up, and signed me just like that. That is the very condensed version.

SSM: What's the weirdest/scariest thing a fan has done/given you?
Nate: People always ask me for my hat's or my guitar after a concert, and they are serious. I find that a bit odd. They must think it is my last show, and I won't be needing my guitar anymore.

SSM: Could you tell us the names of the guys in your band and what instrument they play?
Nate: My band changes frequently because I am a solo artist, and am always looking for great player. However, my drummer is my brother in-law, and he is a great hang and player. His name is Jay.

SSM: If you could perform with anyone who would it be and why?
Nate: I would love to hit the stage with Smitty, Michael W. Smith. I grew up listening to him, and he had huge impact on my life. He's still around so it might happen, you never know.

SSM: Who has inspired you the most?
Nate: My inspiration is my parents. They have encouraged me from day one, and made so many sacrifices to see me succeed. They are my biggest fan's, and I am their biggest fan.

SSM: Is there a new CD in the works or plans for one?
Nate: The new cd that I am currently in the studio working on should be out this summer.

SSM: Is there going to be another tour this spring/summer?
Nate: Touring never ends. I am always on the road, and enjoy it very much. The hi-lite of each stop is getting to know new faces, and building relationships.

SSM: What’s your most embarrassing moment on or off stage?
Nate: A couple of weeks ago I was in Ocean City, MD, and was onstage doing a concert for a youth convention. I do a huge jump at the end of "Never Again..Again," but the jump didn't happen. Instead, I landed flat on my back after slipped on my jeans. My knee is still feeling the affects of the fall.
