The Official Jump 5 Site

Jump 5 is a fantastic pop group with a positive message and one of the most upbeat group of performers we've have ever had the pleasure of seeing.

SSM: Do you have any specific routine you do before a show?
Brittney: Well we always pray before the show and when we pray we have to put our right foot in and other than that ahh
Brandon: We have to warm up.
Chris: Stretch, yeah flipping out there on stage and doing like fifteen song sets can really be rough on your body so we’ve got to warm up
All: stretch and that’s what we do all the time.

SSM: What is one thing you don’t like about being a performer?
Leslie: Getting all sweaty. I mean there’s not really anything that - I mean this is what we love to do. We love every aspect of it
Brittney: The only thing that I hate is the mike packs we have to wear because they make us really sweat.
Chris: They make you heavier.
Brandon: If we could sing with just like a wireless mike with no wires no packs or anything, that would be awesome.
Britney: Other than that we love every minute of it.
Brandon: Do you also mean like as a performer or like the early mornings and everything? Everything. Okay well, early mornings are another thing- and late nights.
Britney: Late nights are really fun but when you have an early morning after it it’s not so much fun.
Brandon: Like this morning we had to wake up at like 3 a.m. and just like fly out here and do two shows. So we’re at the airport and those are always tough but I mean it’s fun for stories later.

SSM: If you could work with anyone in the music business, who would it be?
Brandon: Let’s answer individually because we all have totally different styles.
Brittney: Oh my goodness, one of three people. I either want to work with Elton John , Chris Martin from Coldplay, or Connor Oberse from Brighteyes.
Chris: I would want to work with Justin Timberlake or Mark Bussard. Brandon: I would like to work with Ben Folds, Chris Martin and also Elton John.
Leslie: I’m really into country music so I’d like to work with anyone who sings country music. I think that’s fun. It’s like what I am, where I’m from, the country.

SSM: When you were just a little kid sitting in your bedroom did you ever think you'd get to where you are today, performing and having a huge fan base?
Britney: Oh yeah before I could start talking I wanted to sing and be on stage.
Brandon: We always dreamed of it yeah. We never thought that it would actually happen at a young age or as it did; like at such an early age. I mean we always wanted to ya know sing and dance later on in life but we got to ya know do what we love now.
Britney: Most kids are like I want to be a firefighter, or I want to be an astronaut but I just wanted to sing.
Chris: I remember when I was nine years old, I got my first commercial and I was sitting on my porch saying I’m going to be a star.
(group laughs)

SSM: How long on average, does it take you to learn the dance to a new song?
Chris: Probably a couple of hours. I think the last song we learned it took I think three or four hours.
Leslie: Well to learn it and memorize it all takes like two or three hours but then you have to go back and clean everything and perfect everything.
Chris: It takes a couple of days.

SSM: What do you miss most when you’re out on the road?
Group:Friends and family
Leslie: My dog.
Chris: The whole atmosphere of home. Knowing what you’re going to do everyday because this is like, what are we doing next? When do we get to eat? Like, we haven’t eaten today.
Britney: It’s kind of like when you’re on the road you do what you have to do when you have to do it you don’t really get any choice.
Brandon: When you’re at home you know what you’re going to do.
Britney: If you want to go to the pool and then oh I can go eat and you take your time.

SSM: Which music video was your favorite to make?
Britney: Probably, the last one we did was- I think Hawaiian Roller Coaster ride it was actually a lot of fun to be on the beach in Malibu.
Chris: It was a lot of fun because there were a lot of extras. We had dancers in Hawaiian Roller Coaster ride and it was a lot of fun. I think my favorite to make was Beautiful World because all our friends got to be in the video a lot of people we knew. But my favorite one that we have of ours is Do Ya.
Brandon: We’ve made a lot of fun videos because I liked dancing on the bus which was really fun. We’ve had a lot of fun videos.

SSM: What goes through your mind when you see yourself in magazines?
Britney: Oh wow, what am I wearing?
Leslie: Why’d they pick that picture.
Brandon: I’m thinking how the heck did we get in here?
Britney: It’s kind of ridiculous.
Chris: We’re very critical of ourselves too.
Leslie: It’s kind of an out of body experience. You’re like is that really me, and then I’ll always think about, like I can remember when we did the photo shoot so I think back to the photo shoot and what was happening.
Brandon: I’m always like wow we’re in a magazine, this is so cool. It’s not like it’s an option, but.

SSM: Which album you’ve recorded so far is your favorite?
Group: Dreaming in Color.
Leslie: I like the song Don’t Run Away though, which is on the best of album.

SSM: If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be and why?
Britney: The only thing I can think of right now is people when they here something, they’ve gotta keep an open mind about everything. Most people just are quick to judge. As soon as somebody hears the name Jump Five judging is really harsh. You can like see somebody and be like oh my gosh I don’t want to hang out with them and then you hang out with them and they’re like the coolest person you ever hung out with.
Leslie: Labeling. Yeah.
Chris: We got to go on a missions trip in January and it was pretty amazing to see cause there were so many crazy things that we don’t get to see in our everyday life so I wish that like everyone could see it. Cause, we’re like four kids and a lot of our friends – like we went to Mexico and got to see families that don’t have food, didn’t have shelter and it’s pretty crazy and I wish everybody could see what we saw because it’s like-
Britney: life changing.

SSM: Are you planning on going to college, if so, what do you want to study?
Brandon: Well yes I think we all want to go to college at some point. It’s a lot harder now because we’re on the road so much but I think that at least I’m going to start taking online college courses while I’m home. But I want to do a lot. I want to write music, still perform, sing and dance and also want to make movies and be a director. And yeah, that’s what I want to do.
Britney: If I went to college, I probably want to study art history or some type of English or writing, because my dream job is to be editor at Teen Vogue magazine (laughs). That’s my other dream; my fall-back dream.
Leslie: I want to go to college, I’m definitely going to go to college someday but my opinion about everything changes everyday so I mean I have a favorite thing this day and a favorite thing this day, ya know, so I can’t really say.
Chris: I think I would go to study theater or drama; acting.

SSM: What is one modern convenience you can’t live without? Group: Ipod, sidekick, cell phone.
Brandon: I’ll tell you one that Jump 5 can’t live without when we’re traveling it’s Microsoft streets and whatever it’s called. It’s a GPS thing that lets you drive, you can never get lost with it so, Steve needs that, right Steve? Seriously, before our road manager got it I don’t know how we got around because now that thing, it’s great.
Group: Hurray!!! Ipods, computers, cell phones, sidekick. All technology!

SSM: If you could have any super power which one would you have and why?
Britney: I want the power to when I think something it will happen like you can just ya know if I wanted you to be hit by lightning (to Brandon) it would just happen.
Leslie: I’d like a moderated version of that power.
Chris: Mine would be to be able to do whatever I want, because if you could do that then you could do anything.
Brandon: I want the ability to fly that’s what I’ve always wanted that.
Leslie: I just want the ability to answer this question. To be able to communicate. No, I would like to like think something and then have it happen, like I’m going to think I can fly or I wish my hairdo was like this today. That’s so vain. Okay, I’m sorry.

SSM: What was your favorite Disney movie as a little kid? Is it still your favorite?
Chris: Aladdin or Lion King?
Brandon: You stole mine!
Britney: Little Mermaid or Aladdin?
Leslie: I like Finding Nemo.
Chris: Oh, the Incredibles. And I also liked Monsters Inc., though. Okay we’re totally digressing right now.

SSM: Do you have anything you’d like to say to your fans?
Group: Thank you for being our fans. Thank you for listening. Thank you for supporting us.
*Chris Sings* Thank you for being a fan.
