Nineteen year old Carly Lewis makes up one-forth of the girl group No Secrets.
SSM: How did you and Brian meet?
Carly: I first met Brian when I was in 9th grade, and he was like, the star basketball player, the captain of the team and all that. You know, the "Untouchable" one...(laughs) I had a crush on Him from the very first time I saw him I even joined the cheerleading squad for a little while just to be close to him Then finally, a mutual friend of ours introduced us officially and we started hanging out as friends, then that developed into a relationship, and now here we are today!
SSM: How long have you two been a couple? Carly: we've been officially a couple for about 3 years now
SSM: How did he propose? Did the proposal catch you off guard, or did you suspect it? Who was the first person you told that you two were engaged?
Carly: Oh goodness! The magical day...(laughs) Well he asked me to breakfast at this really fancy restaurant, and I was a little taken aback because we had never been to the restaurant before, and it's VERY pricey! When I told my mom where we were going, she was like "oh my gosh, Carly, he's going to propose!" I was like, "Naw, you're crazy!"
So we went out to dinner, and I was nervous the whole time, because my moms words kept ringing in my head...(laughs) And the second he said, "I need to talk to you about something important," I must of stopped breathing! Then he went on and on about loving me so much and how long we've known each other and never wanting to spend his life with anyone else...then he got on his knee in front of the whole restaurant, pulled out the ring, and by then I couldn't hold back the tears any longer, but I was actually able to get a simple "You bet!" out after he said those 5 little words: "Carly, will you Marry me?"
Then I went home and my mom was still waiting up for me to get backWhen I walked in she was like, "So let me see the ring" then she was like "I told you so!"
SSM: What was going through your mind when he popped the question?
Carly:: My heart was pounding, and I couldn't help but smile. Part of me felt it coming the minute he started talking really seriously, but part of me was pushing it away, saying "Naw, mom's wrong!" (laughs) As soon as he asked me, I was so shocked I could barely speak and I was so excited! I jumped up and he hugged me real tight, spun me around, and everyone in the restaurant was clapping...it was so memorable.
SSM: What did the girls think about you two getting married?
Carly: They FLIPPED (laughs) It was hilarious...at first they just laughed and were like "Nice try, Car" I was like, "No, you guys, seriously, we're engaged." And then they all just erupted in screams and plowed me with hugs, and then Erin was like "We better be in the wedding, girl!"
SSM: What is the first memory you have of Brian?
Carly: Wow...well there's an embarrassing moment I had waay back in 9th grade, when I was trying to get his attention, that really showed how sweet of a person he genuniely is. I was on the cheerleading squad, and we were practicing in the gym when the guys were practicing one day at the same time. I happened to do a split and ended up hurting my knee pretty badly, so he helped me up, took me to the nurse to get ice, and then sat with me for a little while, just to keep my company. After that, I had to stay off my knee for a while, and he would stop by my house once in a while. One time he brought me cookies he made for me, another time a teddy bear with chocolates, and another day with a get well card he made. That's definitely one of my earliest and more special memories of him. :-)
SSM: What was it about Brian that caught your eye?
Carly: His eyes, hands down. He has beautiful, deep, sparkling blue eyes that you can see from miles and miles away. They're like the ocean. That vry first day I ever passed him in the hall, I saw those eyes and knew I had to be with him His personality is a close second, though! (laughs)
SSM: How do you think your marriage will affect the group?
Carly: That's a big question I've been thinking about a lot lately. As of right now, we're just working like regular, because we're just planning stuff right now, but in August of 2005, about a week before the wedding, we're going to be on an official break for a month or two, because Brian and I will be gone away on our honeymoon. The other girls may do a few shows here and there during that time, just without me, which will still be fine. As far as after the honeymoon, nothing much will change too dramatically, except for Brian and I living together as a married coup e, but No Secrets will definitely continue on, Brian is very, very supportive of the group and helps out a whole lot, so it won't be a problem much at all. As for when we start having children...that'll be interesting!
SSM: Have you chosen a honeymoon location?
Carly: We're looking at different places right now...we're thinking of Carribean, so it's romantic, warm, the ocean...how can you go wrong?
SSM: Is the group taking a break while all this takes place?
Carly: They'll probably still owrk in the studio and things and the movie too, while I'm gone because I don't need to be there for them to record their solos or things like that, so I think it'll work out fine. But the fans shouldn't be worried, because No Secrets will continue to stay together regardless of any marriage or children along the way
SSM: Do you two want a family?
Carly: Oh yeah, definitely, we've talked about that a lot, we want at least four children, 2 girls and 2 boys, and then maybe more later on. My mom asked me what I would do if I found out I was pregnant after coming home from
our honeymoon, and I was like "I don't know! Don't jinx me!" (laughs)
SSM: wow, that's a lot of kids
Carly: Yeah, but it's like my own little Cinderella Story I've always dreamed about, Now it's all coming true.
SSM: Was there a specific reason you picked the wedding date you did?
Carly: Not really...it just seemed nice because it was still summer so we could have a nice outside wedding (even though California's nice every day) but during winter months it tends to get chilly once in a while, but in August, it's just a nice month, and it's almost a month after my 20th birthday, so we figured it'd just work out pretty well.
SSM: What is a typical date for you and Brian?
Carly: Aw, what a cute question! Well, the evening starts with him picking me up, then we go to dinner, either casual like pizza or chinese, or a little nicer, like the rainforest cafe or something (laughs) And then we like to either catch a good movie or a show in the city, or if it's nice weather, we'll walk on the beach and just have a nice conversation about anything we want to talk about. We love to talk with each other, it's so great we're both so open eith each other so there's no awkward silences or anything silly like that. Sometimes we'll sit in the park or something too, that's always fun and if we're feeling really silly, we'll go roller blading or something cute like that. Then, he'd take me home, kiss me goodnight, maybe come in and visit for a few, and then I'd go upstairs to my room and write all about it in my journal, (laughs)
