The Official Alyson Stoner Site

Alyson Stoner is a 12 year old bundle of talent. Many of you may recognize her from Missy Elliott's video, the Cheaper by the Dozen movies or Mike's Super Short Show. But no matter where you know her from, Alyson is great at what she does and is just going to keep going.

SSM: What made you decide to get into acting?
Alyson: I think since my sister was in modeling and dancing, I wanted to be just like her. So when I heard that she was going to try out in an entertainment area, I wanted to try it too. But I chose acting instead of modeling. And then I got to incorporate my dance into it once we moved to L.A.

SSM: Do you get more enjoyment out of acting or dancing?
Alyson: I think with acting you can express yourself through another character but with dancing you get to be your own person. So I think dancing lets me show my own personality more.

SSM: How many different dance styles are you trained in?
Alyson: Okay lets see ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, hip hop, ballroom, tango, salsa, and swing.

SSM: How long did that take?
Alyson: To train? I've been training since I was three in the basics ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, but when I came up to L.A. I decided to try out the theater area with Debby Allen and I had to learn the, ballroom, tango, salsa and swing so I'm more new with the exotic dances but the basics I've been doing since I was three.

SSM: Is there anything in store for the fans coming up like movies, shows, ect?
Alyson: Well I have my new movie Step Up coming to theaters on my thirteenth birthday, which is August 11, and Phineas and Ferb which is an animated show on Disney. And I'm possibly working on a singing career because I write my own music and I'm working with some people and then of course Mike's Super Short Show, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and stuff I'm already working on.

SSM: How do you fit that all in?
Alyson: Exactly. It takes more than one day of course and I know my mom and I we don't know how 24 hours in a day goes by so fast. But it's exciting work so it keeps you busy but it's fun.

SSM: Out of all the projects you've worked on so far, which one was your favorite?
Alyson: Probably Cheaper By the Dozen II because on set since we have a rival family that has eight kids ya know twelve plus eight is twenty so we have twenty kids on the set every single day and I dont think another set has become more of a family than what we did on that set.

SSM: Where is the weirdest place you’ve ever been recognized?
Alyson: (laughs) I was in a bathroom, actually I was in a stall and I was at my own basketball tournament and somebody was knocking on the door to see if they were vacant and ya know they knocked on it and I said "Okay, one second." and they said "Sally? Is that you?" I was like "Ummmmm, hold on please."

SSM: How long does it normally take to film one segment of Mike's Super Short Show?
Alyson: With Mike's Super Short Show, actually, usually inner specials take like one day but with MSSS it only takes about four hours to tape a segment so we do about two each day.

SSM: What is your favorite thing to do when hanging out with your friends?
Alyson: Me and my friends like to think of new stuff every day ya know me and them we never get bored so I think we try to set world records, we keep each other busy with we hang out we go to the movies we go to the mall we go to the pool we play, tennis, basketball everything active and busy. We do crafts too. My friend Amara and I actually started our own business and we used to make bracelets and for holidays we'd make little ornaments or candles and we'd go around selling them in the neighborhood. And I bet everybody in the neighborhood hated us because everytime, they were nice enough to buy some but they were probably like oh, oh, these two again. So um, yeah we definately keep ourselves busy.

SSM: What is one modern convenience you can’t live without?
Alyson: Cell phone because I can reach my family in Ohio and I can't always carry a computer with me to check emails so for appointments my mom always has to call me and say ya know I have to pick you up early from basketball practice because you have this or you have that. I think without a cell phone I would lose touch with everyone in Ohio. Ya know unless I could carry a huge portable laptop. Thank you to whoever invented cell phones.

SSM: If you could have any super power, what power would you have and why?
Alyson: My super power would be applying medicine and care to those in need. Ya know how when you see people and you feel bad for them, I'd be like "Now that I can fix."

SSM: If you could join the cast of any TV show which one would you join?
Alyson: I think probably a comedy with like real life experiences and a cast thats so close that it feels like a family. I don't know exactly what show but I think a comedy because it keeps everything lighthearted and fun but something where the cast is really really close and I could go to them like they were my family.

SSM: What was your favorite Disney movie when you were little? Is that still your favorite?
Alyson: Lion King. It's definately one of those movies that you can watch over and over again even though it has a really sad part. Pocahontas is a close second. Little Mermaid. But Lion King was still the best for me. My favorite Disney movie now is Step Up, coming to theaters on my thirteenth birthday.

SSM: If you could meet anyone, alive or dead, who would you choose and why?
Alyson: Audrey Hepburn or Nadia Commanech, who's a gymnast, because everyone says I look just like her. But I haven't me her. I think Audrey Hepburn because she was amazing and she was always helping other people and involved in charity work. I would have loved to meet her. I think she would have been an honor to meet.

SSM: Do you have anything you’d like to say to your fans?
Alyson: I know everyone says this but you have to listen to it, you can never give up on yourself because you have to believe in yourself to get anywhere. If you don't have self confidence then it shows through and thats why I can't be shy, I have to be confident with myself when I go in and say Hi I want to audition for the role. You have to believe in yourself and never give up at all, never, and work on your craft every day.

SSM: If you could just snap your fingers and have any talent, what would your talent be?
Alyson: I would be a unicyclist that could juggle fire on the bowling pins at the same time. Ha, you didn't think I was going to say that did you?
